Goodbye, Twitter, Farewell, Face-book. It's a long long way to St. Paddys day.....

Right, that's it. A day late and I am giving up social sites for lent. For the next 40 days and 40 nights, no Google+, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or any site of that ilk. I will be checking my mail so I will pick up communications directed at me via alerts, I shall just not going looking for interesting content or start conversations viewable by all on those sites.

Whyyyyyyyy am I doing this?
The idea is to gauge just how important they are by not using them. I also hope it will give me the insight to be able to convince people how fantastic a knowledge sharing tool some of them are. I also hope to establish some sort of balance between them being a time suck and a valuable resource.

Will I be able to do it?
No idea, I have never tried before so it will be an interesting experiment / test for me.

See you for my day off on St. Patrick's day March 17th. Toodles!

  2. There will be cool stuff. I will blog, I will just not be social networking to promote it or talk about it. The whole idea is just to see how influential social networking is in my life. Perhaps I will realise I don't need it, perhaps I will realise I do. Perhaps I will get more sleep :)

  3. Isn't it only people who think they are addicted who feel they have to "give up"?
